Profile

  Currently, my main research interests are scalable social information management, information discovery and exploration on social content sites, information extraction management and database usability.
  I joined the Community Systems Group at Yahoo! Research New York, in July 2007. I have been mainly involved in two projects: Purple SOX and Royal Jelly.
  I graduated from the Database Group at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, with a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering. My advisor is Prof. H. V. Jagadish.

  • Royal Jelly - Royal Jelly provides a more efficient and flexible way of making online recommendations and connections by studying the patterns of users on social network sites.
  • Building Better Online Communities - The Web is teeming with communities, each with its own set of interests and personalities. There are communities for video game addicts, tennis enthusiasts, academic researchers, and coin collectors, to name just a few.
  • Yahoo! Research at SIGMOD/PODS 2008 - The 28th ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data/Principles of Database Systems was held June 9 to 12 in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. The joint conference is universally regarded as the leading international forum for database researchers, practitioners, developers, and users.
  • Ron Brachman Honored at AAAI-08 - Brachman, who is a founding fellow of AAAI, was honored for his extraordinary service to the AI community.
