Profile

Marco de Sa is currently a Research Scientist at Yahoo! Research in Santa Clara, working with the Internet Experiences Group. Previously to coming to Yahoo!, Marco worked as an Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Informatics, at the University of Lisbon. He received his degree (2003), his Masters (2005) and his PhD (2009) in Computer Engineering from that same University, specializing in Interaction Design with a strong focus on mobile, personal and ubiquitous technologies.

Although his work for the last 6 years was strongly connected to design techniques and methodologies for mobile interaction, combined with applied case studies on mobile health, mobile education and mobile accessibility, his research goals are now directed toward location and spatial based information.

At Yahoo! Marco has been looking at new ways to design mobile experiences for retrieving, accessing and visualizing relevant contextual information on the users’ surroundings and integrating these activities with social networks, information and shared data.
