Michael Matthews works in Natural Language Retrieval group in Barcelona where he works primarily on applying natural language processing (NLP) techniques to improve web search.

He joined Yahoo! Labs Barcelona in 2009 after spending 3 years working in the Informatics department at the University of Edinburgh where he received an MSc in Informatics in 2002.
