Profile

Sihem focuses on data management and query processing in search, recommendations and advertising. She is part of SocialScope and LeSouk which combine search with social behavior to serve relevant content on the Web.

Chairing: SIGMOD 2009 Tutorials, VLDB 2009 Industrial track, the Social Networks and Personal Information track at ICDE 2010 and the Structured and Unstructured Data Track at WWW10.

Sihem joined Y! in May 2006 after 7 years at AT&T Labs. She received her Ph.D. in CS from U. Paris-Orsay and INRIA, France.

  • Royal Jelly - Royal Jelly provides a more efficient and flexible way of making online recommendations and connections by studying the patterns of users on social network sites.
  • Yahoo! Research at SIGMOD/PODS 2008 - The 28th ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data/Principles of Database Systems was held June 9 to 12 in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. The joint conference is universally regarded as the leading international forum for database researchers, practitioners, developers, and users.
  • Yahoo! at VLDB 2008 - Yahoo! walked away with a total of 10 accepted papers, and several Yahoo! researchers served on various program committees.
  • Yahoo! Researcher Stands the "Test-of-Time" at ACM SIGMOD/PODS 2006 - The windy city of Chicago served as the backdrop for ACM SIGMOD/PODS 2006, one of the largest database conferences of the year held from June 26th to 30th. Yahoo! Research had a substantial presence, with Yahoo! researchers making several presentations.
