Yahoo! Reaches Beyond at CHI 2007
Yahoo! was a champion sponsor of the Computer/Human Interaction 2007 Conference, held April 28 to May 3 in San Jose, California. Yahoo! Research had a strong showing, including two papers and participation in several workshops. Research Scientist Elizabeth Churchill was an active member of the technical and organizational committee, including co-chairing CHI Notes program, Best Notes/Papers committee, Student Research Competition and co-organizer of the SigCHI Global Chapters workshop.
The Yahoo! recruiting booth was a popular stop for attendees, and in true Yahoo! style, the climactic end to the company’s participation at the conference took shape in the form of a bus tour visit to the Sunnyvale headquarters. The visit was part of an all-day tour of Silicon Valley human computer interaction research organizations, including IBM Almaden, Stanford University and Nokia Research. At Yahoo, visitors were welcomed by VP, User Experience and Design Larry Tesler, and Head of Yahoo! Research Prabhakar Raghavan, and were invited to tour the usability labs where Yahoo!'s wide range of products are designed and tested.
