Title: "From Graphic Design to Digital Futures"   Tomas Garcia Ferrari ABSTRACT            The history of Design can be tracked from many different angles. Some of these establish that a century ago, when the Modernist movement started, a few areas such as Industrial Design (manufactured products) and Graphic Design (signs and communication) were consolidated. In the later years, particularly with the computer revolution, this had been radically changed and the once solid discipline borders are much more liquid and fuzzy. Being educated as a Graphic Designer in the analogue world, but having an early interest in the digital world revolutionary times, I have experimented the transition and dematerialisation of our discipline in first person. As a professional designer, but also as a design teacher, for more than 20 years I have been working and reflecting upon projects in different contexts such as Argentina, Germany and New Zealand. This seminar will be an opportunity to share those experiences. BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE Tomás García Ferrari is a professional designer and design teacher, working in the crossover between Design and ICT.
